Homeowners urged to do spring cleaning over Easter period
UK residents have been advised to use the unusual number of bank holidays this April to engage in some spring cleaning.
Robert Sturges, who is an estate agent at London-based Chesterton Humberts, has urged people to set about their domestic cleaning - especially if they are trying to sell their property, he told the Independent.
He suggested that redecorating tired rooms can boost the appeal of the house to potential buyers.
Design expert Lynn Pick also told the publication that it is important to keep it simple when undertaking decoration and it is advisable to use just four different colours throughout the entire house.
While these tips are more focused around DIY than actual cleaning, Ms Pick also suggested that it is vital not to have clutter lying around when people come to view the property.
"You would be shocked at how much space this [de-cluttering] can create and can help someone with a sale as well as families trying to make their home work for them," she was reported as saying.
Those who find the prospect of a mass tidy-up daunting may benefit from the Clean Freak iPhone app, which breaks work down into manageable sections.
