Get your cleaning done quickly
Cleaning your home can be stressful enough, never mind when you find yourself short of time. But getting the kids ready to go back to school, working every day and trying to keep on top of the household chores too can become tricky.
We all know that rushing the housework will never have quite the same effect as spending a day scrubbing the place from top to bottom, but if you don't have much time, here are a few tips to get your home looking acceptable.
First, you want to choose places to focus on, such as the main rooms where any guests might visit. Grab a bin bag and do a sweep of the house, picking up any rubbish as you go. Having a basket in your living room is also great to store magazines, newspapers and any other bits and bobs that don't have a permanent home.
Next, it's time to hit the bathroom, as this is the room that people tend to judge the rest of your house on. Wipe the toilet and the sink, as guests will notice these areas the most, but if you have time then give the bath a quick clean too.
Then you should head to the kitchen and get rid of any dishes, as they can make your home look messier than it really is. Wipe down the sides too, to make sure there's no bits of food.
Finally, grab the vacuum and run it through the house, or at least these main rooms. Then a spritz of air freshener and you're good to go.
If you find yourself constantly short of time though, then it's time to think about hiring a professional cleaner to help you out, so that your home is always ready should you have guests at short notice.
