Cleaning the oven 'named UK's most hated household chore'
Cleaning the oven is the household chore that Brits detest the most, the results of a new poll have revealed.
A survey carried out by Vodafone UK found that almost one-quarter (22 per cent) of people in the UK think oven cleaning is the worst domestic task of all, which was closely followed by ironing and cleaning the bathroom in the list of most-hated chores. In fact, 19 per cent of respondents said they sometimes did not iron for two months or more.
Decorating took fourth place, while cleaning the windows completed the top five, indicating that few people actually enjoy tidying up for themselves and would much prefer the burden of domestic cleaning to be taken off their hands.
Sixth place on the list went to mowing the lawn, showing that even the prospect of completing a chore outside during the summer does little to raise enthusiasm among housework-weary Brits.
Completing the top ten were building flat-pack furniture, vacuuming, washing the dishes and clearing out the loft, which raises the question of whether there are actually any domestic cleaning tasks that UK residents enjoy at all.
What's more, the research led to the discovery that more than half (54 per cent) of respondents only put effort into household cleaning if their parents are coming over. The rest of the time, 19 per cent of Brits admit to hiding mess underneath their bed to avoid having to do a proper clean.
Glafkos Persianis, commercial director at Vodafone UK, commented: "As the findings have shown, maintaining your home and providing your family with the creature comforts we've all come to expect can sometimes feel like a hassle, especially when it comes to chores and admin that takes us away from family and friends."
If you find domestic cleaning a hassle, why not call in the experts instead? This means you'll be able to enjoy more time with your loved ones in a spotlessly clean home, without having to do these typically hated chores yourself.
