Quirky cleaning tips you'd never have thought of
While cleaning regularly might not be the most difficult of tasks, it can be a source of frustration when you have to do a little bit extra from time to time.
Some dirt can accumulate in a way that overcomes the basic regular spring clean - and of course there are some tasks that you just put off because they are a little more arduous.
Sprucing up the home is likely to be on people's minds when the festive season comes to a close, as the house will have seen lots of guests and family members come and go without any opportunity for more than a cursory tidy on the fly in between.
With this in mind, we've come up with a list of simple solutions to common household problems - and they are a little quirky so you might not have thought of them yourself.
Get rid of pesky coffee rings
Coffee rings are the bane of many homeowner's lives. They can build up so quickly and easily if you don't give the surface a wipe immediately after picking up the offending cup - and of course it is easy to miss one or two throughout the house until they become a more severe stain.
However, there is no need to panic, as the solution is easier than you might expect - and you do not need to do anything drastic like sandpapering down a wooden worktop.
Simply mixing baking soda and water on the offending stain and rubbing over it with a cloth should be enough to make short work of it.
Want your towels nice and fluffy?
Stepping out of a luxurious bath and burying your face in a nice fluffy towel has to be one of the most comforting experiences you can enjoy in the home. But what to do when your towels lose this texture after several washes?
A refreshing deep wash in a vinegar bubble bath will give the towels a full restoration job - and they should dry completely fresh-scented and re-fluffed.
Clean the microwave with minimum effort
Scrubbing the microwave can be a tedious part of kitchen cleaning - but there is an easier way!
Let the microwave do the work for you by using it to heat up some water and lemon juice or vinegar in a microwave-safe bowl for five minutes - or 30 seconds for water that has already been boiled.
Let the mixture cool and give the inside a quick wipe and any grime and grease will be gone.
