The necessity of end of tenancy cleaning

The process of end of tenancy cleaning should begin with decluttering, it has been suggested.

According to cleaning and lifestyle writer Jean Guarino, homeowners should make sure they get rid of all the items they have accumulated over the winter but have not had the energy or time to organise yet.

Writing in the Sun Times, she suggested that householders can divide all the items they do not want any more into piles of things they plan to give away, sell, throw into the rubbish heap or hold onto.

This will make it much simpler for homeowners or domestic cleaners to navigate their way through the cleaning process.

“You’ll find cleaning is a lot easier if you don’t have to navigate around piles of junk,” Ms Guarino commented.

“Wash down or dust your walls and ceiling with a vacuum attachment, giving special attention to dirt around vents, doorknobs and light switches.”

She also pointed out that ceiling fans should be cleaned thoroughly, while light fixtures should be removed and washed.

Smaller furnishings and ornaments such as lampshades, wall arts and photo frames should also be thoroughly cleaned.
