Many of us cannot stand doing the cleaning every day. We hate it even more when accidents occur and a drink gets spilled onto the carpet. This can happen on a fairly regular basis if you have children or pets at home as they tend to get a little hyperactive and run into tables or end up under your feet when you least expect it, throwing you off balance!
One of the most popular drinks in the world happens to be Coca-cola or Pepsi, which can leave a horrible stain on a carpet. An important cleaning tip to remember in any spillage situation is to act fast!
As soon as you notice a drink that has been spilled on the floor, grab a kitchen towel and absorb as much of the liquid as possible before it has the chance to spread and soak deep into the carpet fibres.
The next step is to pour cold water over the stained area in order to dilute the remaining residue. Dry the area with a fresh towel. If you were quick enough to act this should be enough, and a stain wouldn’t have set in. If you have a light-coloured carpet, which makes the stain more prominent you will need help from one of the best ingredients ever…white vinegar!
Create a mixture that contains one tablespoon of white vinegar, one tablespoon of washing up liquid, and two cups of hot water. Blot the stain with a fresh kitchen cloth until you’re happy that the stain has completely lifted then rinse with cold water and dry thoroughly.
While it is relatively easy and quick to clean a small stain, it could take you hours to make your entire home completely spotless. If you do not have enough time because of awkward working hours and family responsibilities then you could always hire a domestic cleaner.
