Electrolux has unveiled a new iPod vacuum cleaner that comes complete with an iPod docking station.
The eco-friendly Silence Amplified machine is based on the Electrolux UltraSilencer and allows domestic cleaners to listen to their favourite songs while carrying out their carpet cleaning duties.
Electrolux says the vacuum cleaner is fitted with an extremely quiet motor, which makes the machine practically silent while it is in operation.
Although the novel cleaning machine is still a concept, the Swedish manufacturer said it could be persuaded to mass product the vacuum cleaner if it receives a substantial number of pre-orders.
Cecilia Gustavsson, product line manager for Electrolux, told the Telegraph: “Many people listen to music to help them focus on a task or to make an activity more enjoyable.
“We are now offering this opportunity when vacuuming. Our laboratory tests show that if you listen to music while cleaning, it will improve the cleaning performance, reduce the stress levels and give a general feeling of well-being.”
Neato Robotics recently announced the imminent release of Neato XV-1, a robotic floor cleaner that uses sophisticated laser guidance technology to clean surfaces in an organised and systematic manner.
