Contract cleaners hear of kitchen hygiene hotspots - 17/11/2011
Homeowners who are considering drafting in contract cleaners to spruce up their abode have been told which areas of the home need the most attention.
According to antibacterial solution specialist Microban, the festive period will lead to an enhanced risk of germs developing in the kitchen.
More food preparation takes place over Christmas and many households have finger buffets, which can result in bacteria spreading more quickly.
To ensure their kitchens are spotless before they entertain guests, homeowners may opt to call in contract cleaners to give their refrigerators and work surfaces a professional once over.
"It's worth taking time to ensure that everything is properly clean. It can make the difference between having a happy festive time and being unwell over Christmas," commented managing director of Microban Europe Paul McDonnell.
Although contract cleaners can be helpful, Mr McDonnell said taking simple measures such as ensuring food is covered and chopping boards are well scrubbed can prevent food poisoning.
Last week, Kevin Frazier of Frazier's Carpet One said people should be well prepared for more spillages over Christmas, especially those who are having friends and family around.
